Each TwistTie is laser cut as a single-piece lattice of pre-spaced, pre-drilled wood ties that:
- Can be curved to fit any desired radius while maintaining the turnout size
- Include pre-drilled spike holes that ensures accurate gauging & geometry
- Makes turnout construction faster & easier than traditional methods
- Takes the guesswork out of hand laying curved & straight turnout
- Includes etched guidelines to verify rail location
- Pre-spaced ties eliminates tie laying tedium
- Uses stainable wood ties
- Are NMRA compliant
TwistTies are cut from very pliable Baltic Birch plywood custom sawn in Finland specifically for Fast Tracks. The wood grain runs perpendicular to the rails with ties that are scale 7" (178 mm) thick and 9" (229 mm) wide and will match all popular commercially available wood ties and flextrack.
Each TwistTie can be used to construct one HO scale, #12, Right hand turnout using code 70, 83 or 100 rail and are designed to work with Micro Engineering small spikes (Part #30-106).
If you order Fast Tracks TwistTies, we highly recommend that you consider purchasing a matching Frog Helper soldering jig and PointForm tool. This will make the construction of the frog and switch points much easier. You may also want to consider adding a bundle of PC Board ties (for the throwbar) to your order. If you are building curved turnouts the rail will need to be pre-formed. Our Rail Roller bending tool will make this easy. All of these items can be added to your cart from the Accessories & Optional items list below.
Note : You will always get better and faster results with less effort using our Assembly Fixtures. However if you only need to build a small number of turnouts, curved turnouts of any radius, or if you prefer all wood tie construction, then TwistTies may be a better option for you.
