Crossovers are constructed by building two symmetrical halves of trackwork in the Assembly Fixture and then joining them together to form a complete crossover. In addition to crossovers this fixture can also be used to construct regular turnouts as it uses the same geometry as our standard turnout fixtures.

Extra tie pockets have been added to allow for the construction of crossovers. To build standard turnouts, use the tie pockets outlined on the printable tie template for the corresponding turnout.

QuickSticks laser cut ties are available to build both single crossover or double crossover trackwork with this fixture.

If you order this assembly fixture, we highly recommend that you consider purchasing a matching PointForm tool. This will make the construction of the switch and frog points much easier. Notes on wiring a Double Crossover:

Wiring a double crossover can be a bit of a challenge.  A detailed schematic and description of how to wire a double crossover built using a Fast Tracks fixture using four Tortoise switch machines can be found on our discussion forum at the link below.  This will work for both DC and DCC operations.

A simpler alternative is to use a Hex Frog Juicer, which will automatically handle all the electrical routing for the frogs by simply soldering a single wire to each frog, the Frog Juicer will handle the rest!  For DCC only.  These are available from Fast Tracks at the link below....

Note: We currently do not have documentation on how to build single crossovers with these fixtures, however the techniques used are similar to building double crossovers.
