Want to reduce the time it takes to build a turnout by up to 30%? With the Fast Tracks TieBreaker PC Board cutting tool you can!

By holding each PC Board tie at just the right position, the TieBreaker tool makes it fast and easy to cut each PC Board tie to the exact length that you need.

Just cut the tie to length with a pair of rail cutters, file the ends of the ties with a file, and you are done in just a few minutes!

This TieBreaker tool is designed to work with the HO, #6 Turnout assembly fixture.

The TieBreaker comes as a laser cut kit and needs to be assembled. Assembly only requires some wood glue and a screwdriver.

How The TieBreaker Works

Using a TieBreaker

Start by inserting a PC Board tie into each pocket in the TieBreaker. Each slot in the TieBreaker will hold the tie in position to cut each tie at just the right size. A magnetic latch holds the top of the tool in place.

Using a TieBreaker

Next, cut the ends of each tie flush to the edge of the tool with a pair of cutters.

Using a TieBreaker

Smooth the ends of the ties with a large file.

Using a TieBreaker

Open the TieBreaker tool and remove the cut ties.

Using a TieBreaker

Insert the cut ties into the fixture and you are ready to solder!

The TieBreaker tool certainly saves a lot of time when setting up ties on a Fast Tracks fixture. It works as advertised, except for the magnetic latch--it's given me a little trouble, but I can easily hold the tool closed by hand as I clip and file the ties. The advertisement is a bit misleading when it says you only need to drop the ties in the fixture and you're ready to begin soldering--what about filing the gaps? -Thanks for the feedback David! If the magnets get glued into the tiebreaker with opposing polarity, the unit will not close. It's best to snap the two magnets together first, then glue in place to ensure they are attracting to each other. -Fast Tracks

I've used many of Fast Tracks products, and not found a clunker in the bunch. All very well designed, and extremely useful. In building my layout, the thing I most dreaded was building turnouts/switches; to my surprise, it's now my most enjoyable and satisfying activity in creating my dream layout (who'd a thought !). Thank you Fast Tracks ! This device makes a quick and reliable process of getting the 8-9 PC ties needed for a turnout to the correct length .

These things are great! I've had one for a #5 turnout for a while that I've been limping along with to cut ties for #6s - this one is going to make the job just that much easier. They are very simple to assemble - I use CA to put the parts together to avoid warping of the wood parts. I also use a fine point sharpie to mark the tie lengths on the front of the tool just to remind myself of what I'm cutting and where they go.
